Top 10 Fruits You Need to Eat For the Summer

With the bountiful supply of fruits available to us, have you wondered which ones provide you with gut health? What about the ones that boost your immune system? I've laid out 10 fruits and their health benefits below.

What’s better than sunbathing during a beautiful summer day and reaching for that refreshing bowl of fruit? Nothing! Not only do fruits taste amazing, but the amount of benefits that come from eating fruits is something everybody should be aware of. I did my research on the top 10 fruits you need to be eating. I broke down each of the benefits that they provide your body. By the end of this article, you may be adding more fruits to your diet.




Grapefruit

Grapefruits are a great fruit to eat for the summer and bring with you throughout your busy day.

Grapefruits are filled with vitamin C, vitamin A, potassium, and fiber.

This fruit also has lots of antioxidants and phytochemicals. Eating them can also increase iron absorption in your body.

They also boost your body’s immune system, which is an easy way to help your body avoid catching the flu or cold, which is perfect to make sure your body is healthy.

If you’re looking to achieve that summer glow, grapefruits can help you with that too. A lot of people add grapefruit to their skin routine since it’s so high in antioxidants, it makes your skin brighter and more radiant. They also contain Lycopene, which helps reduce your skin’s redness as well as evening out your skin tone.

Avocado

Yes- avocados are technically a fruit, even though some people still can’t believe it. Avocados have a huge list of health benefits that’ll definitely convince you to eat more of them so you can feel your best all summer. They can improve digestion, decrease the risk of depression, and protect against cancer. 

They are the only fruit that contains a substantial amount of healthy monounsaturated fatty acids. Avocados are nutritionally dense and contain 20 vitamins and minerals such as vitamins C, E, K, and B-6.

If you’re not a big fan of the taste, there’s another way you can still get the benefits from avocados if you add them to your skincare routine. Avocado oil does wonders for the skin. Not only does it moisturize, but it also reduces some of the symptoms from eczema and psoriasis. It also works great to prevent and treat acne. Did you know it can also be used to treat sunburn? What better fruit for the summer than avocados.

Pomegranate

Pomegranates have two compounds that are great for medicinal properties: Punicalagins- which is an antioxidant found in the juice and peel and Punicic Acid- which is found in the seed oil.

This fruit has great anti-inflammatory properties: protects you against heart disease, cancer, type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, and obesity.

Not only are strawberries sweet to eat, but they can also bring out your skin’s natural glow as well as help fight acne. Just one serving of strawberries contains over 50% of your recommended vitamin c. They also protect your skin from UV damage, so attention to all the tanners out there, add strawberries to your diet. Your skin will thank you.

Cranberry

Cranberries aren’t just for the holidays, add cranberries to your regular diet and reap the benefits that this fruit provides. They can help the body to ward off UTI, ulcers, and gum disease.

They also promote heart health, decrease inflammation, and support your digestive health. Cranberries have high antioxidants and have been known to boost brain power by improving memory. They can fight tooth decay and nourish your skin.

Now for my personal favorite, cherries! Cherries have antioxidants, anti-inflammatory properties, promote heart health, and can even help you sleep. They’re great to eat before you workout since they can boost your exercise performance. This fruit also supports gut health, improves skin and your immune system.

Your scalp will thank you for eating cherries this summer because cherries will keep your scalp hydrated so you can achieve that mermaid hair look for the summer.
