At a time when more people are looking to influencers and celebrities for wisdom and guidance on how to be or what to do, it’s important to focus on what the message they are delivering to their audience is. Are they just promoting their products, or is there a campaign they stand for? Self-love is an important message for celebrities to spread to their impressionable audience, so let’s take a look at some of the celebrities who promote self-love.

Lizzo
Lizzo is a 3 time Grammy Award winner and she’s living life feeling “Good as Hell” with her numerous hit songs. However, Lizzo isn’t just about making great songs that make you want to dance, but she’s all about spreading the message of self-love and body positivity.
Unfortunately, Lizzo is no stranger to hate comments criticizing her looks. Nonetheless, she still shares her message of body positivity no matter what you look like. It took a while for Lizzo to come to terms with loving her body. If you need a confidence boost, listen to her song, “Good as Hell”, you can jam out while working towards self-love.

Gina Rodriguez
Gina Rodriguez has been spreading self-love by talking about living life with an autoimmune disease, Hashimoto’s. Living with an autoimmune disease affects every aspect of your life, and someday’s the most you can do is just lay in bed and rest. But in a society where the hustle and bustle of everyday life is the norm, it can make you feel bad about yourself because you aren’t being as active as everyone else.
That’s where Gina Rodriguez comes into you reminds you to prioritize yourself and your wellbeing. One of her Twitter posts reads, “I self-love. I turn on my heart and give her all to me. I care for every wound on my body and inside I cradle the wounds unseen.”
Your body is everything and you have to take care of it as best you can. Everybody’s needs are different, and even though it’s tempting to compare yourself to others, you need to think about what you need. So if you do have an autoimmune disease or not, you can look to Gina Rodriguez to help you remember the importance of self-love.

Halsey
Halsey is no stranger to promoting self-love and being vocal about taking care of yourself. Not only is she a successful artist and a new mom, but she always goes on Twitter to vocalize her meaningful words and to tell her audience that their opinion of themselves is the only opinion that matters. A particular tweet that sticks out to most is, “Love yourself today and every day.”
After giving birth to her beautiful baby, she posted a selfie of her body three months after to promote her self-love for her new body. Your body goes through a huge change when being pregnant and giving birth, so it’s inspirational to see her promoting self-love when your body goes through changes.
She also promotes self-love through her makeup line, About Face. Not only is the brand vegan and cruelty-free, but the makeup line is about empowering every person, no matter what you look like and who you are.

Harry Styles
If you heard the phrase, “treat people with kindness”, it’s probably because Harry Styles has popularized the term. He lives by example and lives his life the way he wants to while encouraging others to do the same.
He wants everyone at his concerts to feel that same way too, “Maybe at a show, you can have a moment of knowing that you’re not alone … I can’t claim that I know what it’s like … I’m just trying to make people feel included and seen.”

Lady Gaga
I think by now, everybody knows that Lady Gaga isn’t afraid to be herself or to stand up for what she believes in. From her hit song, “Born This Way” to be very vocal about the importance of mental health, including her own.
That’s one thing we need to remember, as we put celebrities on such a high pedestal, that we tend to forget that they are real people who also struggle with similar issues. It’s important for them to share their experiences with us, so we can all learn and grow together.

Beyonce
Beyonce is the queen of empowering everyone to be themselves and love themselves and not letting anybody try to make you feel otherwise. Through her songs, interviews, and performances, she doesn’t back down from using her platform to speak up for what she believes in, regardless of what everyone else thinks.
Aside from her numerous talents, one way that she’s been able to keep going and continue to dominate the music industry is knowing when to pause and take a well-deserved break. Whether it was to focus on her children, and how beneficial it is to us to not be afraid to take breaks and start over. Being able to do so leads to personal growth and saving yourself from burnout by loving yourself enough to focus on your wellbeing.

BTS
BTS is a globally renowned Grammy-nominated 7 member boy group from South Korea. They have blown up in the U.S. music scene for their inspirational music. When it comes to loving yourself, BTS has released a Love Yourself album trilogy, that talks about the struggles associated with trying to love yourself.
One of the songs in this trilogy is called Epiphany sung by Jin is about the struggles we face in trying to accept and love ourselves. One of the lyrics translated from Korean to English is, “I’m the one I should love in this world, Shining me, precious soul of mine, I finally realized so I love me, Not so perfect but so beautiful, I’m the one I should love.”
Members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook have never been afraid to stand up for what they believe in, even if it meant receiving heavy criticism in their home country. All of those struggles and criticism weren’t for nothing, as they were able to gain fans from across the world due to their message of loving yourself, others, and always fighting for what you believe in.
To further their reach and expand on self-love and to help others, BTS has partnered with UNICEF’s End Violence program by launching their Love Myself campaign. They even delivered a speech at the United Nations.
