Give Love to Animals and Shop Cruelty-Free Perfume

Perfumes make a great Valentine's Day gift. It's an even better gift if they're cruelty-free! You don't have to give up smelling like Chanel when you opt for cruelty-free brands.

What fragrance is your favorite? Do you prefer a floral scent or are you more into a sweeter-smelling perfume? Regardless of our favorites, I think we can agree that having a nice perfume spritzed on before heading out the door gives you a boost of confidence. However, is that added confidence coming at a cost to animals? Don’t worry though, because you don’t have to give up perfume in order to smell like Chanel. Check out these tips to recognize which perfumes are cruelty-free and which ones aren’t. I’ll even tell you about some great cruelty-free perfume to try with scents to die for.

The Reason Behind the Tests

We’ve talked about animal testing before in our, “Why Aren’t All Brands Cruelty-Free Yet?” but to summarize some of those key points, companies test fragrances, and makeup products on animals to test for skin and eye irritation by putting the product onto the animal’s skin and into the eyes.

Although this is obviously important information to have for consumers to know, there are better alternatives to getting these answers without having to harm animals.

Animal-Friendly Alternatives to Testing

The Animal-Free Safety Assessment (AFSA) has a comprehensive page on their website that goes into detail about each alternative testing that companies can use. All of these options are safer and actually provide a more detailed report about any concerns for the products.

What Are They?

To briefly name the different types, there are 3D cell culture, computer models, and pathway-based technology. All three of these options have been proven effective at providing the important information companies need to know if their products are safe. These ways ensure that we can have more cruelty-free perfume.

Cruelty-Free Brands to Try

Fans will be happy to know that all of Ariana Grande’s perfumes are cruelty-free, 100% vegan, and used with clean ingredients. That means that the products are made without certain potentially harmful ingredients like formaldehyde and parabens to name a few.

The 7 Virtues

The 7 Virtues are another great cruelty-free perfume company. This brand is also sustainable. They source their natural ingredients from countries that are trying to rebuild from war. They also provide fair wages and support to those people affected.

Pacifica

Pacifica is a well-known brand by now, they are vegan, cruelty-free, and have a recycling program to ensure sustainability. They make recycling nice and easy by putting your name and email address. They will generate a pre-paid shipping label, then all you have to do is ship your empty products back.
